25 years of Rederij Belle: The dream of a second lady

Shipping Company Belle is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! In our anniversary series, we look back at special moments in our history. In this part, we take you back to the year 2003 – the beginning of an ambitious expansion of our fleet.
The Belle van Zuylen has been proudly sailing the Vecht for a few years now, but founders Alfred and Sacha have a growing desire to sail with larger groups and to expand the sailing area. Their dream? A second saloon boat. Not just any old one – but the most beautiful one that has ever sailed. With elegant lines, stained glass windows and a classic “swept butt”, it should be a tribute to the sailing heritage they love so much.
The plans are taking shape. A shed is rented on the NDSM wharf. The overalls go back on, the tools are dusted off, and with a team of two craftsmen and two apprentice carpenters they get to work.
Will they succeed in making their dream a reality?
In the next newsletter, you will discover how this special project continued to take shape….
