Journal May 2026

Dutch version

The days are getting longer, the terraces are filling up and on the water the season is really starting. May and June are perhaps the best months to experience Holland from the water. Are you coming along? From a new Lemsteraak to historic steamships in Dordrecht to sailing to Volendam or a leisurely cruise on the Vecht – there is again plenty to discover.

Recently a special Lemsteraak from shipyard Blom has become part of the fleet of Rederij Belle. This 15.5-meter ship, built in traditional fisherman style, combines authentic sailing with a comfortable and attractive interior.

The barge can accommodate parties of up to 12 people, providing a quiet and personal setting for, for example, a board meeting, relationship day or small-scale team building.

Sailings are mainly from Muiden, but boarding in Friesland or around the Wadden Sea is also a possibility.

On deck it is all about sailing together and enjoying the water; below deck there is plenty of room for consultation, a good conversation or a joint lunch or drinks. It is this combination of tradition, tranquility and cooperation that often makes a day on the water just that little bit different from a regular meeting on location.

Want to know more about options or availability? Please feel free to contact us.

One of our favorite routes remains the Vecht. As soon as you sail from Muiden towards Weesp, Nigtevecht and Vreeland, you will immediately understand why wealthy Amsterdam merchants had their estates built here in the Golden Age.

Along the way you will pass stately country houses, green shores and charming villages. A tour where tranquility, history and nature effortlessly come together.

Do you know where the expression “lying in front of Pampus” comes from? We will explain it to you during a sailing trip to the fortress island of Pampus. This can be done sailing with one of our modern lemsteraken or in classic style with our steamship Succes.

From Muiden or Amsterdam, we set sail for a relaxing trip across the IJsselmeer. We will then dock at Fort Island Pampus, where a guide will take you through the island’s rich history.

The rest of the program we will gladly plan with you. Chances are that good drinks and appetizers will be part of the program.

Please note that Pampus is closed on Mondays.

Fancy a sailing trip on the IJsselmeer? How about a sailing trip to Volendam?

Once in Volendam, you can choose to visit Smit Bokkum’s traditional eel smokehouse, where you will taste authentic freshly smoked IJsselmeer eel. Or delve into the village’s musical history on a tour of the Palingsound Museum.

From May 29 to 31, Dordrecht will once again transform into Europe’s largest steam event, Dordt in Stoom.

For one weekend, the historic city center is dominated by hissing steam engines, imposing steamships, classic trains, vintage cars and impressive model railroads. The combination of nostalgic technology and contemporary innovations makes this event unique – for young and old alike.

Do you want to experience everything? Then the Steam Tour is highly recommended.

Looking for an inspiring venue for a meeting, presentation or cultural event? Then Oosthal is definitely worth considering.

The Oosthal at Museum ‘t Kromhout has a wide range of uses: from cultural events and business meetings to political debates and exclusive receptions. Naturally, it is easily accessible by saloon boat.

Whether you choose a relaxing cruise on the Vecht, a day of sailing on the IJsselmeer or a cultural package in Amsterdam – the water remains the most beautiful way to experience the Netherlands.

We will be happy to think about a suitable tour for your party.

Feel free to ask about the possibilities or book your cruise directly.
