A prerequisite for a funeral by boat is, of course, that it is possible to moor near the cemetery, so that both the coffin and the passengers can disembark safely. Here are a few examples of cemeteries where this is possible:

Just as with a ‘traditional funeral’, we can arrange various catering options for you on board. For example, a reception with coffee and homemade treats, followed by lunch or drinks after the service. We are also happy to accommodate any special requests you may have.
More and more often, bereaved families are choosing to scatter the ashes of the deceased at sea. This is, of course, also possible on our saloon boats. We organise the boat trip as a private event, and you decide on the location and the time of the scattering.
In principle, the scattering of ashes by boat can take place on any stretch of public water, whether it be the Markermeer, the IJ, the Amstel, the Vecht or one of Amsterdam’s canals. Formally, however, you are required to notify the authorities of the scattering. We can assist you with this.
